COVID-19 Update For Our Patients (Updated Aug 12, 2020)

Due to recent public health concerns, Champlain Ophthalmology is actively monitoring information from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) as well as updates from local officials regarding the spread of COVID-19. The safety of our patients and staff is our top priority. As such, we have established the following screening measures and infection prevention protocols in our practice:

  1. We ask that all patients and visitors notify us in advance if in the last 14 days, they have experienced fever, cough, newly developed shortness of breath, nausea, or loss of taste or smell; or if they have been in contact with someone who has contracted the virus.  If so, please contact our office to reschedule your appointment.  If you were tested for the virus and the results were negative, please feel free to keep your appointment.
  2. Our waiting room has been reorganized to ensure social distancing. If there is an exam room available, you can be taken back directly.
  3. All patients and staff are required to wear a face mask at all times when entering the office.
  4. Only one visitor is allowed into the office to accompany each patient for their visit.
  5. Every exam room is thoroughly cleaned between each patient.
  6. Faceshields are placed on each slit lamp to ensure a physical barrier is present when the patient and staff have to be within 6 feet for the purposes of an exam.
  7. If you have a non-urgent issue and would prefer to reschedule, we are accommodating as best we can. We are extending contact lens prescriptions temporarily until our patients can be seen in the office.
  8. If you have an issue that can be addressed over telehealth, we offer virtual appointments for those who would prefer not to come into the office.

If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to give us a call at 301-493-9600. We look forward to continuing to serve you.
