COVID Update

The physicians at Champlain Ophthalmology are dedicated to providing superior eyecare in a safe environment. As a result of the COVID-19 epidemic, we have updated our safety protocols in accordance with guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and the American Academy of Ophthalmology.

Screening

All patients are called ahead of their appointment to screen for coronavirus symptoms. We ask all patients to reschedule their visit if they have had any of the following symptoms within the last 14 days: fever, cough, newly developed shortness of breath, nausea, or loss of taste or smell; or if they have been in contact with someone who has contracted the virus.  In addition, all patients’ temperatures are checked upon arrival to the office.

Personal Protective Equipment

All patients and staff are required to wear a mask at all times when entering the office. Each slit lamp is equipped with a face shield to ensure a physical barrier is present when the patient and staff have to be within 6 feet for the purpose of an exam.

Cleaning

All exam rooms and equipment are thoroughly sanitized between each patient with approved coronavirus cleansing agents.

Waiting Room

Our waiting room has been reorganized to ensure social distancing. If there is an exam room available, you can be taken back directly.

Staff

All staff members have their temperatures checked on a daily basis. All physicians have received their coronavirus vaccinations.

Telehealth

If you have an issue that can be addressed over telehealth, we offer virtual appointments for those who would prefer not to come into the office.

If you have a non-urgent issue and would prefer to reschedule, we will do our best our accommodate. If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to give us a call at 301-493-9600. We look forward to continuing to serve you.
