ALL YOUR EYECARE NEEDS

Comprehensive

At Champlain Ophthalmology, we treat nearly all eye conditions. Our physicians diagnose and treat eye infections such as pink eye or ulcers, cataracts, dry eye syndrome, corneal diseases, eyelid diseases, glaucoma, and ocular inflammation. We screen for diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, medication toxicity, and LASIK eligibility. We also provide annual eye exams and evaluate for glasses and contact lenses.

Glaucoma

Glaucoma is a condition where the pressure in the eye is too high and can lead to damage to the optic nerve. This results in the slow loss of peripheral vision that usually occurs over many years. In severe cases, glaucoma can cause central vision loss and blindness. Since the nerve tissue is affected by glaucoma, the vision loss is permanent.

Dr. Asima Bajwa is a fellowship trained subspecialist who has expertise in the treatment of glaucoma. She is well versed in different treatment options available including medical therapy, laser glaucoma surgery, traditional bypass surgery including trabeculectomy and tube shunts, as well as the more modern glaucoma surgeries known as Minimally Invasive Glaucoma Surgery, or MIGS.

Cornea

The Cornea is the clear outer cover of the eye that all the light rays pass through on their way to the retina. Conditions that can impair the cornea can be a significant source of pain and irritation, such as in corneal abrasions or dry eye syndrome. Other conditions such as corneal edema or scarring can impair the sharpness of your vision. There are a variety of conditions that affect the cornea including Fuchs’ Endothelial Dystrophy, Pterygia, Salzmann’s Nodules, Recurrent Erosion Syndrome, and Keratoconus.

Dr. Omar Chaudhary is a fellowship trained specialist that has expertise in treatment of corneal and other external diseases. He is well versed in different treatment options including medical therapy, punctal plugs, bandage and therapeutic contact lenses, amniotic membrane transplantation, and superficial keratectomy with corneal burring.

Advanced Cataract Surgery

Cataract surgery is the removal of a cloudy lens from inside the eye and replacement with a clear synthetic intraocular lens.  Our specialists at Champlain Ophthalmologists are experts at cataract surgery performing 500+ cases a year.

We utilize the latest surgical techniques including laser cataract surgery and utilize a range of intraocular lenses including multifocal and toric options.
