Alexander Baten-Tschan, M.D.

Dr. Baten-Tschan is a Board-Certified Ophthalmologist with fellowship training in Glaucoma. His interests include laser-assisted and complex cataract surgery. Nothing makes him more excited than hitting the target spot-on after a successful cataract operation. In residency, he also became interested in combating the terrible disease of glaucoma and as such, he is trained in the medical and surgical management of the condition. This includes the ever evolving minimally invasive surgical techniques and the full spectrum of traditional incisional glaucoma surgery. His other interests include new technological advances in the field and international ophthalmology.
Dr. Baten-Tschan believes in a very team-based and patient-centered approach to make sure that the patient needs are met with the best possible solution. He likes to treat patients wholistically and strives to be supportive while helping people improve and maintain their eyesight.
Outside of the clinic, Dr. Baten-Tschan enjoys sports, especially soccer and hockey. Being loyal to his hometown, he is a big DC sports fan. He also likes skiing, backpacking, travelling, and spending time with his wife, family, and friends.
